Have you ever had a friend who got into a relationship with someone that everybody but him/her knew was no good for them? They turn them against their own friends. "You don't need them, you have me." They try and change them into something that they are not. No matter how much you try to warn them, they go down the road to destruction, eyes wide open, seeing nothing. It always ends terribly. First losing their friends, then even family is turned on. Isolation. The ultimate demise is harsh and usually comes with an all at once epiphany that everyone was right. Indeed a rude awakening. Then the apology tour begins and a sad shell of who they used to be starts the long road to recovery.
This is the situation I find my fellow conservatives in during this primary process. The femme fatal if you will is the media and the establishment Republicans. They are manipulating the voters with the express intent of destroying any true conservative candidate. "You don't need them, we have ObaMitt Romney." It only takes a few points of drop in the polls and the voters get nervous, they sense defeat and begin looking for the next savior. Of course whoever is next in line will be slandered as well. Whether it is Bachmann with the HPV deal, which was trivial in hindsight, relaying what a voter said; or Perry with "Niggerhead", a place he didn't own, didn't name, and even removed the name, yet he is attacked as 'racist'. Then Herman Cain, by all accounts a decent hard-working Christian man, is accused of sexual harassment with not so subtle undertones of the old Democratic South's "Mandingo" fear mongering. "They're coming for our white women. Hang 'em!"
In Perry's case, he may have self destructed anyway. His immigration stance and calling voters who disagree, 'heartless' did more damage than anything in my opinion. But the intent was clear, if he was rising in the polls he was going to be taken down by any means necessary. Aided and abetted by the beltway Republican pundits. In all cases the initial accusation is irrelevant. The rhythmic mantra that goes on like an Occupy Wall Street drum beat drives the point home to all conservative voters. "He/she is unelectable. They are too extreme. They are racists. They are immoral. They are stupid. The independents won't vote for them." On and on by Marxist propagandists and beltway pundits alike. The narrative is unrelenting. Finally, we are separated from our friends. By the time we realize what has happened it is a truly rude awakening. The supporters of the conservatives who cried foul were right. Their candidate was really just a true conservative (or played one on TV in Perry's case) and we were played like a Stradivarius to question our choice, abandon our principles and fail to defend our own once again. Isolation. The apology tour is coupled with passive/aggressive support for the only choice left to us; the milquetoast RINO that the Marxists wanted to run against. We rationalize our support in a sad sort of cognitive therapy. "Maybe they'll govern as a conservative. Maybe the independents will really like them and vote for them. Maybe this time it'll be different. As long as we beat Obama it doesn't matter. Maybe they really mean it. Maybe they will really change the federal government."
The pathetic victim takes years to recuperate, recharge and re-invigorate the debate. "We won't let them tell us who to vote for next time. No, next time it will be different." And then the band warms up and the same old tune begins to play. The target is the same. The music gets louder. We start tapping our toe...

Supporting Sophism Supplants Constitution

One of the most difficult things to do in the modern political environment is to be ideologically pure. Political correctness has so thoroughly permeated the discourse that nothing deemed intolerant will be tolerated. Let us look closely for a moment though. If you are not pure in your ideas, do you have any basis for those ideas? I remember an exchange between a conservative woman and a libertarian conservative over the issue of prostitution. At some point he asked her if she would do it for a million dollars. She struggled to answer saying that a million dollars was a lot of money, but ultimately admitted that she probably would. He then asked if she would do it for $1. She got very flustered and asked him, "What do you think I am?" to which he replied, "What you are Madam, has been established, it's now just a matter of price." The point is that if you allow an exception to a belief then you have no belief. The only hope remaining for this nation is to apply principle to every vote for every politician. One strike and you're out.
So called conservatives these days are constantly guilty of this perversion of their 'principles'. Take the balanced budget amendment that so many tout as a way to reign in government spending. On the face of it you may think this is a good idea but it is a horrible idea for two reasons. One, it is an excuse to raise taxes. Two, it is an admission that spending at this level is necessary and must continue. Neither of these things is good for America and in the case of the spending, most of it is unconstitutional. The principled stand is that the federal government must discontinue unconstitutional programs, lower taxes and return prosperity and power to the people and the several States as intended by the Founders of this nation. The balanced budget amendment is capitulation by an inadequate and vacuous bunch of cowardly legislators.
Another example is oil subsidies. Congressmen right and left will argue this is necessary for development of our resources while the government does a plethora of other things to diminish same. The truth is that it is simply a bone thrown to a private sector that offsets another bone thrown to another sector, i.e. ethanol subsidies. Every time a so called conservative argues for oil subsidies to continue he/she by default argues for other subsidies to continue. The federal government has no standing constitutionally or morally subsidizing any business. The very bedrock of free enterprise capitalism is that industry should stand on it's own, driven by a free market to determine what is best for the citizenry. If a product is necessary, efficient and priced properly it will excel in the market. If not, it will and should fail and make room for something more adequate.
Thirdly, and I will get in big trouble here, abortion is one of the most egregious of the cases of unprincipled exception. Being such an emotional issue it is rife with instances of otherwise good conservative folks willing to vote for bad laws simply to reduce the slaughter. You will find no more pro life person than I. I believe that Roe v. Wade is completely erroneous and has zero basis in the U.S. Constitution. I believe that the fetus should have a doctor and that no government entity should be able to come between the fetus and his/her doctor. I believe that a doctor that knowingly exterminates the life of a child is guilty of murder with the mother being at the least accessory to the crime. That being said; recently Texas passed a law that would force women to see an ultra-sound of their fetus before an abortion could be done. Again, on the face of it, you may think that's a great idea. In fact, it may save a few babies short term. Indeed the bill was watered down with amendments to the point that no woman actually has to view it, but that is not the point. The point is this; if you vote for a law to allow the government to come between you and your doctor, even for a noble purpose, then you open the door legally for another law to be made for nefarious purposes. This is how law works. Once you set a precedent, then future advocates for other intrusions into your health care can point to it and say, "See, the government can and does intervene in medical care. Now we want to intervene also." This is the basis for socialized medicine which will cause untold pain and suffering if ever fully implemented. In fact more abortions would be approved, less care for elderly and even euthanasia for terminal patients or special needs children. In other words, far down the road, the precedent you set with a bad law, can result in exponentially more damage than you prevented. Again, the principled stance is that all abortions are wrong and should be illegal with only one exception, the life of the mother. Even then it should only be done with the explicit approval of the mother. There are some mothers who will choose to die to let their child live and that choice should be respected. But in the case where one must die, it is unfortunate but logical that the more viable developed life should survive to possibly reproduce again. This is the cruelty of nature. A hard, but necessary choice. We must be willing to take this stand and remain vigilant. The minute we allow any other exception we immediately lose the argument and will never prevail, causing even more babies to be murdered. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
The facts are clear to those willing to see. Compromise is for the weak and unprincipled. One should stand morally and ethically ensconced in ones beliefs and let them prevail or fail based on the merits alone. If we fail, we come back to fight again with more fervor and clearer communication. In the end right will win. However, once you compromise even once, you cannot again take a stance on principle for your enemies clearly see that you have none. This means that your presence in the debate is in fact detrimental to your stated cause. Even Ronald Reagan, my favorite president of the last century, famously stated that 85% was better than nothing. Well, he went on to compromise with liberals and the increase in revenues from his tax policy was eventually dwarfed by the continued out of control spending on unconstitutional programs. Later liberals would use his compromises as ammunition to argue for further compromise. It just goes on. Now we are on the brink of bankruptcy, not from Obama's spending, bad as that is, but from unconstitutional entitlement programs that have been voted for in various forms by both parties for over 100 years. The entire entitlement structure owes its life to unprincipled conservatives who caved, compromised and compounded the problem leaving future generations bankrupt and stripped of their right to inherit constitutional government and Liberty. Once again the devastation that will be wrought on children and grandchildren, worldwide, dwarfs the perceived gain in the short term of our lives. How despicable must be the view of our generation by future historians when the true cost of our selfishness and lack of honor or principle will be known.
America, I implore you to take a stand for principled constitutional government and nothing else from this day to your death. To do otherwise is to put yourself into the long, sad, and pernicious line of evil that is destroying the greatest nation in the history of mankind.

Worse Than Murder!

What could be worse than murder? Stealing someone's vote, that's what. 'Come on' you say, be serious, Keith. Murder is taking a life, stealing a vote doesn't come near that. You are wrong, my friend. Having murdered someone you have their blood on your hands. Having stolen someone's vote, you have the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots on your hands. Hundreds of thousands of men and women have laid down their lives for the right of each of us to vote for our future. What kind of vile piece of human debris could steal that from you and sleep at night?
Recently, in several states, it has come to light that after two years of preparation the election officials in those states have found it impossible to get our military veterans their ballots in a timely manner. Late reports have state officials acknowledging that many veterans votes will not be counted this year because of these failures. Our brave men and women, laying down their hearts, their legs, their arms, their skulls and their lives for this nation, will not have a say in who leads them in that endeavor. I'm sure that it is purely coincidental that the most egregious are heavily Democrat states like Illinois and New York. This is beyond unacceptable. This is treason! You must forgive me, my fellow Americans but there is no punishment adequate to alleviate this dispicable behavior! Hanging in front of the poll place with a sign that says, "THIS is what we do to treacherous vote stealers!" is the closest thing I can think of that would suffice to heal this wound. I'm sorry, but I have no pity for these traitorous people. Oh PLEASE!! DO NOT tell me that this is a simple clerical error. They have had 2 years! 730 (seven hundred and thirty days) to prepare to get this system in order to make sure that our finest citizens can exercise their most precious privelege and right; to vote for the representative of their choice who may send them into harms way. There is absolutely zero excuse for this!
As of this writing, the news is filled with stories of voting machines 'malfunctioning' and having democrat candidates already checked. In some cases when one checks the 'straight republican' box, one finds that all of the democrat candidates get the vote. These machines are programmed people! It doesn't just 'accidently' vote for you! There is a special place in hell for someone who could steal a persons vote. I am at a loss for words and that doesn't happen...what do you say about someone like that?
Just today, Sandra Day O'Connor was brought in as a pinch hitter for another judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and an Arizona law requiring ID to vote was shot down, one week before election day! Google it, you'll see. This law has been on the books since 2004 and BAM! just like that, nope, you can be tootie fruitie and vote in Arizona this year. Is there any doubt in your mind that this is so illegal aliens can vote? Or, that voter fraud can take place? All of this, ALL OF THIS, is liberal fraud. Democrats, almost exclusively are stealing Americans votes, including American soldiers. How can any decent citizen of this fine country give any quarter to a democrat this year?
If you don't vote; you give comfort to the enemy within.
If you vote third party, you give comfort to the enemy within.
If you don't impress upon your friends the importance of voting out the democrats this term; you give comfort to the enemy within.
If you vote for anyone other than a Republican this cycle; you affirm that stealing votes works; you affirm that veterans do NOT deserve to vote!
Now I know that some of you will say, "Keith you're going too far. We should vote third party!"
Let me make an analogy my fellow patriots. It is like you have two large armies battling on the field of honor. They are somewhat evenly matched. One army represents unspeakable evil and terror. The other, maybe not Nirvana, but at least some freedom and liberty. Off to the side you have a small militia. They fight against both armies. True patriots all, representing only faith, hope and love; but completely outnumbered to the extent that they will be annihilated. I come over the hill and see the coming battle before my eyes. To who do I lend my life? True, it would be honorable to die for the good militia. But would that be the best utilization of my life? Is that worth the end of my talents which could be lent to change the good army in the future? Do I fight for the evil army? Surely not. Or; do I fight for the good army, with perhaps an unpopular general, not perfect, but at least fighting for freedom? What is your life worth? What is your vote worth? Do you die on this hill? Do you live to fight another day? It is your choice, and I and the good army, are willing to let you make it. The others are not, they steal your choice from you. You see, they are smarter than you. They know better than you what is good for you. Maybe you should just roll over and show your belly...
